  We use 5 MILS of 3M adhesive #9627 on the back of every asset tag because it is the best adhesive transfer tape available in the world.
 
   If you follow the recomendations below including cleaning the substrate with a solvent before application, Name That Computer guarantees that the PREMIUM asset tags will stick to your substrate.  We have conducted adhesion tests and found that it is impossible to remove these tags with your fingernails.  We have been able to remove them with a hammer and chisel, and with a variety of knives and scrapers.  This, however, results in "substrate destruction", where it is obvious that something had been removed from the substrate.

   Keep in mind that even the paint on your car can be removed, but it is widely considered "permanent".  If you need an asset tag that absolutely cannot be removed from the case, you may want to consider branding (melting) your information into the plastic case.  The problem is, this can also be melted by someone that wants to destroy the information branded into the case.  If you have a metal substrate, you can engrave into the metal, but that can also be filed or removed with a grinder.  We can provide an asset tag with holes in it so that you can rivet the tag to your case, but those can be drilled and removed from the case.  We have found that our PREMIUM asset tags with 3M adhesive on the back provides you with the easiest and fastest way to protect your assets, advertise your company name and logo, and prominently display a barcode and/or serial number for easy asset tracking.

   Our goal is to provide you with a permanent asset tag that cannot be removed without going to extreme measures.  The asset tags are meant to be a theft deterrent.  Your equiment is less likely to be stolen when there is a permanent asset tag on it because it has your contact information on it.  A thief needs to act quickly, and will go for an easier mark and leave your equipment alone if it has a permanent asset tag on it.  If the asset tag can be easily removed, it becomes an easy mark.  If the thief tries to remove a permanent asset tag and it doesn&t come off, he is likely to reduce his risk by stealing something that does not have a tag on it or has a tag that can be easily removed.

Bond strength is dependent upon the amount of adhesive-to-surface contact
developed. Firm application will assist the adhesive in developing intimate contact
with the bonding surface. To accelerate the adhesion process, additional heat, up to
130°F (54°C), may be used.
To obtain optimum adhesion, the bonding surfaces must be clean, dry, and well
unified. Some typical surface cleaning solvents are isopropyl alcohol or heptane.*
Ideal tape application temperature range is 70°F to 100°F (21°C to 38°C). Initial
tape application to surfaces at temperatures below 50°F (10°C) is not recommended
because the adhesive becomes too firm to adhere readily. However, once properly
applied, low temperature holding is generally satisfactory.
*When using solvents, extinguish all ignition sources, including pilot lights, and
follow the manufacturers precautions and directions for use. These cleaning
recommendations may not be compliant with the rules of certain Air Quality
Management Districts in California; consult applicable rules before use.

Environmental Performance

Humidity Resistance: High humidity has minimal effect on adhesive performance.
No significant reduction in bond strength is observed after exposure for 7 days at
90°F (32°C) and 90% relative humidity.
UV Resistance: When properly applied, nameplates and decorative trim parts are
not adversely affected by exposure.
Water Resistance: Immersion in water has no appreciable effect on the bond
strength. After 100 hours at room temperature, the high bond strength is maintained.
Temperature Cycling Resistance: High bond strength is maintained after cycling
four times through:
8 hours at 194°F (90°C)
16 hours at -40°F (-40°C)
8 hours at 100.4°F (38°C/100% RH)
16 hours at -40°F (-40°C)
Chemical Resistance: When properly applied, nameplate and decorative trim parts
will hold securely after exposure to numerous chemicals including oil, mild acids,
and alkalis.
 Foam to powder coated painted surfaces.

Application
Techniques
Bond strength is dependent upon the amount of adhesive-to-surface contact

with the bonding surface. To accelerate the adhesion process, additional heat, up to
130°F (54°C), may be used.
To obtain optimum adhesion, the bonding surfaces must be clean, dry, and well
