Asset tags can do more for your business than just keep track of equipment or inventory.  They can also bring brand recognition to your company.  Here is a great example of asset tags that reveal a partnership between an IT Solutions Company and its customers.  What better way to get your name out there, especially if you’re customer doesn’t object to it.  This is a brilliant and creative way to make your statement and still achieve the purpose of asset tagging. Not to mention, cost- effective too.  Each tag serves as your calling card and may even draw new customers to your door.

Another use for asset tags is to label your property as in “PROPERTY OF” tags.  These are simply tags with plain text on them and usually no barcode or serial number.  They may include your company phone number as a contact in case the equipment is lost or stolen and recovered.  A third use is simply for directions such as “DO NOT UNPLUG”, “CAUTION: ELECTRIC SHOCK” or some other cautionary text.  So, as you can see, asset tags can do more than serve as inventory control.
